Non power teams should need an immaculate season to get a host spot. I mean, nearly undefeated in conference, definitely win every series, win their tournament and win 90% of their games against power teams.

this is a bad take. The Sun Belt is much better across the board that the Big 10 and probably the Big 12.

USM earned a host, just not the #9.

it's water under the bridge...

but the committee really liked what Southern Miss and Florida State did during the regular season compared to A&M

the Ags' series wins over Florida and t.u. -- both cruising in their regionals by the way -- did not get a lot of respect for some reason

It's because it's us, the sips or Florida both would have gotten credit for beating us as a host. We dang need to be top 5 in RPI or KPI to be strongly considered for a national seed. We have to be above approach.

Not unheard of. Happened to Arizona (13) in 2024, OkSt (11) and Auburn (13) in 2023; Florida (15) in 2021; and Oregon St. (16) in 2019. Others out in 3 games (1-2) include W.Virg (2019), TCU (2021), Ga.South. (2022), Vanderbilt (2023), Arkansas (2024), and Vanderbilt (2025).

You can't judge the validity of a seed by their tournament performance. By that standard, Fresno should have been the number 1 overall seed in 2008. They were seeded 4th in their regional. We learned this harsh lesson in softball last year.

The committee penalized us because of our pitching situation. Southern Miss is always overrated and they always choke in postseason.
