Using Edwards would be overkill. If they hope to win the regional, they need him against us. On the other hand, their coach will never live it down if they lose again and he never saw the field.

You have to throw him tomorrow. Lamar is just dangerous enough to steal one

It looks like TSU was pitching backwards too. The guy who started most Friday nights for them is Wade Cooper who got the win for them out of the bullpen last night. He threw 55 pitches. Cade Smith was usually their Saturday starter and he threw 24 pitches last night.

Can you imagine gong home with one of the top arms in the country not throwing a pitch?

So they used their 1 and 2 starters both in game 1? Bold plan.

TX State won't win this regional out of the losers bracket. Their hope is to stay in the winner's bracket. Step 1 of that plan was to win the first game.
I don't think Childress ever pitched backwards. To many people's frustration. Wacha pitched 2x in the 2011 Regional I think. And we went to Game 7 in the 2010 regional so he would have pitched there too.Gramercy Riffs said:ldr said:

I think it's happened to us before. Can't remember who it was though. Wacha maybe? Someone help me out.

Bottom line to me if I was the head coach of USC. I know I'm a .500 team out of California this year. I know USC was 1-11 vs Q1 opponents…. Texas State is Q1. You throw Edwards 100% of the time with those stats. He took a huge gamble and almost put USC in a great position….but it DID NOT HAPPEN so let's see what happens.

What team doesnt intend to stay in the winner's bracket?

No coach, when they get their bid, is expecting to go to game 7 as the path to victory. Everyone wants to start 2-0, its not that complicated.
Yes some teams have the bullpens to carry them, I foundly remember a monday night in Olsen. But at 0-1 or 1-1 you are a few cold ABs away from going fishing instead of advancing.
The Bruins are like a lot of teams right now (us included) in that they don't know who their ace is right now. They lost their ace to injury about 3 weeks ago.BigCityCold said:TheBonifaceOption said:FM 949 said:Gyles Marrett said:McInnis said:

Apparently the Bruins. Bold strategy. Let's see how this plays out.

No one is debating that. Nice way to not reply directly to my post while throwing in the "coach". Shows a lot about you.

Barret Loux pitched some in game 7 against Miami in 2010 after starting game 1, and he got shelled pretty good. Of course the discussion of holding him back for game 2 against Miami came up earlier, with some suggesting you shouldnt need gim to beat FIU or dartmouth anyway so you even hold him back for game 3 if you lose the 1st.
It was a little amusing to see 1 seed West Virginia hold back Alek Manoah for game 2 against A&M, only for them to lose game 2 to duke.
