The number of the weekend! 45 hits producing 45 runs. It's good seeing the bats start hot this weekend! I can't wait to see what happens when we get into league play

Tennessee Tech is probably a little better team than Elon (our first series last year). To me, I saw marked improvement, especially in plate approach.
Team batting average this weekend was .429, compared to .319 last year. We scored 45 runs, compared to 32 last year.
I would have liked to see better starting pitching, but I think all of us had concerns with pitching this year. Not dominant, but I'd say overall pitching was ok for the first series.
C- is a pretty harsh grade. I'd go with A for offense and B- for pitching.
ETA: I guess I missed the C- joke.....

I get being pessimistic with how last year went and given the competition level, but you have to be impossible to please to come out of this weekend upset.
We are much more relaxed, disciplined at the plate, and have no aspirations to lead the league in HRs unlike the expectations of last years murderous hitting line up. There was too much energy in trying to live up to the hype that it killed our plate appearances. Now we're back down to earth and exciting to see. Will be interesting to see how we handle SEC weekend starters.Fairview20 said:
We were losing 2-0 to Elon in the B6 on opening day last year. Was a 3-2 nail biter for a few more innings until Binderup hit a HR to make it 4-2 in the B8. Everyone from Jace to Gavin on down was pressing. Was surprisingly nerve wracking at the time but was ultimately a sign of things to come.
We were never really in danger like that this weekend outside of the first game where it was a little close for comfort in the middle innings until Sorrell broke it open and we poured it on after.
In the grand scheme it might not mean much but at least eye test wise we looked like a much better team.
