I was reading about the proposal in 2022 to move the season back to the middle of March and that seemed like way too far back but I could see moving the start of the season back to the beginning of March. Of course I wish the season was staring this weekend already!

How about just getting rid of northern teams?

This. Stop catering to teams that don't really care about baseball anyway.

They don't wait until Texas ponds freeze over to start college hockey season!

College baseball needs to be played on College campuses during college semesters.

Regionals in June are hot enough. Regionals in July... Ugh I don't even want to think about it.

I think moving the season back to the start of March would be cool. I think it would be really cool to have the College World Series played during the week of 4th of July.

The playoffs are already way too hot happening a month before.

Moving the season back means playing less baseball. Even if colleges play the same number of games, that means the summer season will be shorter. Maybe the guys up north would like it, but you'd effectively be asking the guys down south to play less baseball just to put northern teams on more of an even football.

The northern schools can choose to start their season later and play fewer games.

I propose moving the football season back to start in October because it is too darn hot in August and September.

If you move everything back a month then you're playing most of your conference schedule and all of the post season after school is over.

The northern schools need to figure out how to live with it. That would be like us having a ski team and complaining because there isn't anywhere to practice.

Not since Mount Aggie was decommissioned. Rest in peace.

Speaking of Mount Aggie, when was it decommissioned? It was around when I was in school.

A wind storm destroyed it in 2023 and it hasn't been rebuilt.

I took a ski class as one of my kinesiology credits. It was my first ever college course. My mind was blown at freshman orientation when the counselor said it was an option, lol.

I don't think 2 weeks makes that big of a difference in average temperatures and at that point we would be talking about post season play and not all D1 teams. The average high in Omaha on July 4th is 87-88 and on June 15th it is 84-86.

If it doesn't make that big of a difference, why move it back?

Took that class as well, when Mt. Aggie was by Kyle Field. One time as I was heading down learning to turn on my skis, I couldn't turn back, was about to hit a girl so dove and skinned my knees and elbows pretty bad. I had pretty bad strawberries for a week or 2. Made legs day at the gym hard to do. But got them in anyway...Ah, fun memories

I was in the quack shack once when they brought in a girl who had tore her knee up on that thing. I don't know if they had already shot her up, but she didn't seem to be in pain. I hate to think about getting around campus on a bad knee.

For me it is selfishly because then my wife and I are done with teaching for the year and can travel to the post season games much easier. That is pretty much it for me and other than that I don't really care (earlier would be cool so we can go from football straight into baseball)! I did read the 2022 report that the coaches and administrators put out about moving the start of the season back to mid March and one of their arguments was the ramp up time for players would lessen the likelihood of injuries and especially arm injuries for pitchers.

I would love to be in CS this weekend but we've got 2 college tournaments in the Phoenix area this Friday through next Monday at the MLB spring training stadiums. Arizona, Stanford, Oregon State, Michigan and Nebraska are in town along with 7 other teams. As many cold February days and nights as I've spent at BBP watching opening weekend games I selfishly wish we'd play one of these sometime.
