People talking about the press being exposed and our style no longer working or whatever but our non-Hill starters were 7/32 from the field today and the shots were mostly good ones. This wasn't like Florida when we were having to force some up there.

We're not beating anyone, let alone a top 15 caliber team on the road, when Agee, Griffin, Lane and Dominguez shoot like that.

But chance to get our groove back next week. Ole Miss and especially OU suck on defense.

Keep feeding Hill. He's playing hard especially around the rim.

And Agee just has to be better than he was today. It's not really fair to him but if he's not good offensively we basically have no chance.

It's impossible to quantify this, but I'd ask what the affects of the press not working AT ALL - and it's not working at all the last 4 games, we are getting roasted - has on the mentality on offense.

We work really hard on defense for 94 feet, and for 4 straight games we've seen (almost) zero positive results/momentum opportunities from it. I know Bucky preaches to just move on and not get discouraged by it, but i wonder what the cumulative effect over the last 4 games has been.

Nothing we can do about it, i just wonder if it's an unquantifiable part of our struggles, both mentally and physically. I know Griffin has a good shooting game against Mizzou, but he and Rueben certainly haven't had the positive energy the last few games.

I don't think it has a ton to do with it. We also haven't really been pressing the same way for the most part until we got way behind today and against Florida.

It certainly shouldn't have anything to do with Agee's ability to score.

Our offense was also really good against Mizzou, you'd think you'd have seen it in that game.

Well, if we are going to rely on shooting ALONE to to be the factor to winning, not very smart. Defense travels, and right now our defense is terrible.

Yeah, I think I disagree, but I don't really have anything real to back that up, so I could be totally wrong.

I know we won't stop, but I wish we would abandon the full-trap press for a little bit and just stick with the "slow your offense down" press. Give some guys a little rest and prevent so many easy run out baskets.

Honestly, we just need a little defensive momentum, a little run of a few good things to happen. We got those runs multiple times in our first 7 games, we've gotten none of them these last 4.

Better competition though.

I thought that's mostly what we did today actually until we got down a lot, and a lot against Mizzou, but it just didn't make any difference. They were torching Lane and Dominguez just as easy 25 feet from the basket as 70 feet.

But I don't think scheme is our problem right now, it's some individual defense. It seemed like it got better there late against Vandy, but we were already behind, in foul trouble, and that's an elite offensive team.

But we have some guys playing like they're going through the motions of this defense instead of attacking it at every spot and the whole thing falls apart when you do that.

I think we're tired. We are routinely flat footed against a guy catching the ball on the run on an in bound. When we're in position, we quickly over rotate to a ball fake where the handler then dribbles right around us forcing us to break away from our defense to stop a wide open drive at the rim. The times we decide to double are just stupid, and teams have easily figured out where the ball must go to break it and get easy points.

If it's not tired legs, then it's simply lack of adjustments following teams figuring out our playbook.

Something has to change, because it's not just matchup based now. It's a running trend.

Bucky somewhat addressed the easy dunks/layups the other night after the Florida game. Were undersized and need as many possessions as possible to win. So we full court press as much as possible. Either we force a turnover or they get a quick shot attempt and we can get the ball back.
I'm not saying it's a right or wrong philosophy but everything we do revolves around getting as many possessions as possible.

Hill, Clements, and Dibba. Those guys are shooting with confidence!

I think we're wearing down. I think that's especially the case with Agee, but overall I think we don't have the same energy reserves. The schedule hasn't helped with the shorter turnaround today.

I don't really see a team that's wearing down, but we'll find out this week. We knew that stretch of games was gonna be tough. Now can we pull out of it against these next two teams.

We have several problems. Undersize, no big star to help with blocks and layups in the paint, we have to be able to hit 3 point attempts at a decent rate and we must be able to finish around the rum with our smaller players.

When playing a good team and any one problems show up we are in trouble.

I just don't see us getting to loose balls like we were and our press has become ineffective to the point that it's hurting more than helping. We were clearly gassed in the last 10 minutes imo. Especially Agee

Would be odd for guys to be wearing down on 2 games a week but our Js have flopped, D has dropped off, and we are getting killed on the ORebs

I think as the season grows, there is an inevitable affect of our tallest player being 6-6 and fatigue. The intensity is so high that two full days is not enough to recover. We don't have a 6-11 guy waiting in the paint. But I don't know much about basketball. Played Wednesday at about 8, traveled, then again at 11 am today.

These players have guts. That only goes so far against skill and size. Vandy is 19th. We played good. Officiating is bad.
I hate tu. It's in my blood.
