Tough call, but i think I would have put Ruben in the last 3 minutes.

Griffen since Texas has been unbelievable weak on defense. Avoids contact, gets lazy, keeps his hands down, and takes plays off.

Watching the backside dunk for the win with his guy flying uncontested was infuriating.

That wasn't Griffens guy, it was Clemences guy. Rylan was being tied up by the offensive player.

Also you think Dominguez would be any stronger on defense? Ruben is a one dimensional player. You play Griffen every time in that scenario

Ruben was 1-6 on 3s with 0 rebounds. Rylen was 4-9 (so 4-7 before the last 2 misses) with5 rebounds. And Rylen plays better defense. Ruben is literally one of our worst defenders.

.

Go back further. He shot a corner three they missed. Mizzou guy jumped and was going to land on him and griffin stepped out of the way instead of taking charge.

Unfortunately Dominguez is a one trick pony that doesn't shoot well under heavy pressure.

Then he is too heavy footed to be much good on defense. I realize he is playing a 4, when he should be a 2 or 3, but he is probably playing too many minutes, and if we had Mgbako, he would be playing about 15-20 mins per game.

Griffen almost every time. I remember thinking it didn't matter how well Ruben would shoot this year he was always going to be a liability on D.

My one exception to take Ruben over Griffen late in a game like that is if he's on some unnatural heater of a game and you didn't want to take the hot hand off the floor.

Ruben was in the game when we went down 8 if he's not hitting a shot he's a liability on D.

Rylan's defense has been weak lately. I'll have to rematch, but im pretty sure the guys he was defending had 25 and 17 points.

That's fair, but I hated the combo of players we had with him as well.

I don't think you realize how small we are as a team…there's only so much "playing through it" you can do when there's a clear size disadvantage

Griffin is 6-4 at best. The 6-ish guys he's been guarding the last game have all be 6-7 to 6-10. Its be alarming, visually, how small we've looked at every single position the last 3 weeks. Not only small, but slender as well.

That type of wash out in the lane is never going to be called. Gotta fight through it and do everything possible to foul without allowing an and 1. Ultimately - just a really good play by Mizzou. We needed some under 4 stops, and our defense combined with the foul situation that the refs put both teams in dramatically changed the way that game was played at the end.

I would agree, but if we were bodying up and someone out athletes us, I dont hold them to thst (happens to Jacari, dibba, and Marcus.

But when you "ole" your guy to avoid contact it's very frustrating.

I wouldn't be too alarmed. It's just the nature of having to build an entire roster with whoever you can find on such short notice.

Yeah, alarming may not be the right word, more so "shocking." And thats probably more of a nod to how freaking big Florida and Mizzou are, but even Griffin looked so small and slender on TV when he was matched up against some of their wings. I've always known we were "small", but the visual hasn't been nearly as obvious in any of our conference games before Florida.

It was probably the most shocking against Mizzou, because I didn't realize how big their guards and wings were. Those two shooters - Crews and Pierce - are 6-8 and 6-10. The smallest guy they ever had on the floor was Robinson, who is 6-3.

Mizzou had long stretches where they had 4 guys on the floor who were taller than everyone we had played except for Clemence.

A team that is that long (and athletic) can afford to send waves to the offensive boards because they don't have to worry as much about getting beat in transition due to their size.

Yeah the trick to beat us is just take it to the hoop every time and crash five. Odds are high you can grab an offensive board against us.

Agee is busting his rear but when four of the five opposing players are your height or taller, it's gonna be a struggle.

We should have fouled Phillips off the ball. I'm not sure why we didn't. He was putting up sidewinders from the FT line and there's no way he makes two. I'm not sure he would have made even one. I would have fouled him as soon as we got inside a minute, but we seem to never have considered it.

This got brought up on another thread too but our free throw rebounding situation changes the math on that a little more than usual.
