Game Preview
"The great teams always bounce back," is what Rashaun Agee said this week. We will absolutely find out about this team tonight. After an 0-2 week last week, it's time to burn the tape and move on.
In a late start onight at 8pm, our Aggies will look to get back to their winning ways against a solid Mizzou squad who's 6-4 in SEC play. No need to recap last game out, but the Aggies will be looking to shoot much better tonight. Missouri is a tall team, although they only list 3 forwards or centers that are healthy on their entire roster and 10 guards. However, they have guards listed at 6'10, 6'9, 6'9, and 6'8. Mark Mitchell one of them at 6'9 is their leading scorer at 17.6 ppg. They have a lot of depth at the guard position. They only have two reliable and seemingly willing shooters from deep in guards Jayden Stone and Jacob Crews who both shoot over 40%. Aside from that their guards like Mitchell, Robinson, and Barrett love to score in the paint or midrange.
They do have some post players with size. Their 7 foot center Shawn Phillips Jr, plays 20 minutes a game and is reliable inside. However he is shooting 48% from the free throw line, their other big Luke Norweather stands at 6'11 and even shoots 57% from the free throw line. They love to feed them down low in the paint. We should be able to pack the paint and disrupt their efficiency given they only have a couple weapons from deep. They'll run pick and rolls or back side screens all game long. They love to back you down and slow things down offensively angling for position inside. We'll see if we can disrupt their rhythm and speed them up into mistakes. I want to see us play some stingy team defense and frustrate opponents like we can.
Offensively I want us to remain fearless. Shooters keep shooting. We're one of the best in the country and one bad game doesn't define us. We need to stay shooting with a relentless confidence. I also want to see us drive with confidence and strength. Don't be afraid to attack. We're in the SEC many teams will have size. They may not be nba level players like Condon, Chinyelu, and Haugh, but we're gonna face size. We have to drive, we have to throw ourselves into bodies. We either finish or get fouled most of the time. We need to do so to get our shooters open as well.
We all want to see Dominguez get back on track. I feel if we see one go in, he'll be back and make it pour. It felt weird watching us play at home and shoot so poorly. Surely it was an anomaly. I want to see us respond and bounce back, light it up from downtown, get steals, run in transition and play Bucky Ball. It's an important game to stay forgetting for seeding, to stay in the upper part of the SEC, and to get back on track. Get to Reed, wear maroon, be loud, and let's go BTHO mizzou!!!!
