I'm definitely not THAT guy who runs around talking about health and food that are bad for you, but I've seen a couple videos that say the Herdez avocado salsa is worse for you than most others. Evidently, the regular Herdez salsa verde is ok. A quick ChatGPT query found this:

Unlike fresh avocado salsa or homemade guacamole, the packaged Herdez product contains:
  • Soybean oil and other added vegetable oils
  • Canola oil
  • Maltodextrin
  • Natural and artificial flavors
  • Modified starches and gums (xanthan gum)
  • Sometimes artificial colors like Yellow 5, Blue 1, etc.

That stuff is in all kinds of things and isn't honestly part of the list I look for. Soybean oil ain't the best but considering the quantity in which you're using this salsa at each use, I can't imagine it's much threat.

Take that list of ingredients and extrapolate it to a scale like iced tea, where in you're drinking a few glasses daily, now I'm concerned.

But a teaspoon on each of 3 tacos? Nah, not worth the hullabaloo.

I do like the Mi Tienda stuff for store bought. If you ever have a little bit of time, this is relatively easy to do.

This is the correct answer. This and the habanero are the only 2 store bought salsas I buy.

Make your own. Super easy. Put in chopper or blender.

4 roasted tomatillos
3 cloves of garlic
2/3 cup cilantro
1 tsp salt
1 lime - juice
1 serrano
1 jalapeno

change based on your individual taste
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Pretty similar to what I make at home except I use some charred onion instead of the garlic. You can also add in an avocado when you blend these to make avocado/tomatillo salsa which is my favorite that I make.

Similar recipe when I make homemade enchiladas.
