New Induction Range?

I am in the process of buying new appliances including a 48" range.

All of my research says to go with an induction cook top. I am looking at kitchenaid, but they are just starting sales of their 48" induction range in January 2026. I'm worried kitchenaid's first 48" induction model may have some quirks to work out.

Does anyone have experience with other brand induction ranges? Should I not be afraid of having the first model of a kitchenaid induction?

Not sure if first model problems are as much of a thing on appliances.

We have a whirlpool induction cooktop, was installed at the home we purchased 5 years ago, and I really like it. Zero complaint aside from it being sensitive to sitting metal things on it and beeping at you for it.

That technology has been around in home kitchens for decades, so not sure why they would have new model problems. It's not new, and it's not overly complex. Full steam ahead on the new Kitchenaide.

We replaced a thermador gas range with this one and have loved it. I will never go back to gas after having induction.

** Fair warning that you will likely need a 240V plug to run a decent induction cooktop. **

If you don't have that built in, you will need to rewire for it, which can be potentially expensive given your home setup.

I've read some bad reviews about very dissatisfied bluestar customers. Do you have experience either a bluestar induction range?

Username fits

We have a BlueStar gas range at our primary and had induction at our townhome. When we sold the townhouse and bought a stand alone bay house one of my favorite features was a gas line which is rare on the coast. It feeds a Thermador range. I'd never replace my range with induction, but it was certainly better than low end gas or standard electric

No, I have an old Garland 36" four-burner gas range with a griddle. After years of cooking on the best range out there, I'd have a very hard time moving to induction. I simply posted the link since it started at $15k.

Is this a glass cooktop? If so, that is the worst range I have owned to keep clean and scratch free. Never again for me.

We also have this one. Still really really like it after 2yrs. No issues with the glass top scratching and it's super easy to keep clean since food doesn't cook onto it.

So does the induction part of it prevent etching of food particles? Also does that limit the type of cookware on it?

No idea on the etching. I've never had an issue with it.

Cookware must be magnetic, as that's how the heat is generated. Stainless, cast iron, compatible non stick.

We have induction because we don't have gas in our house. It's way superior to electric.

I do miss gas for wok cooking and toasting up peppers (like poblanos).
