I've heard great things about sausage at City Market in giddings. I was just joking about what I had at the one in Luling which was terrible. See the picture at the top of last page. It was awful.

Not sure where you are, but there's great sausage all over the state now that brisket prices are so high. Most of the best places are making their own scratch sausages using the trim since they all heavily trim their briskets. The best sausage I've personally had was the Knockwurst at Micklethwait in Austin many years ago. Kruez has amazing sausage in Lockhart. Have heard Interstellar makes incredible sausage. Hutchin's (McKinney/Frisco) have great sausage.

I wonder how many shops are struggling under similar conditions. Bummer to see a place like this shutdown.

I drove past Snow's a few Saturdays ago at about 745am after a busted hunting trip in Lexington. Probably 100 people hanging out plus a rooftop tent on an SUV on the street where it looked like someone had camped out.

Not sure how I lucked out, but the only time I ever went I was able to just walk in with no line.

Only time I've been was probably ~15 years ago and only waited maybe 30 minutes. would really love to try and get back but living out of state with young kids I don't think it'll be happening anytime soon.

I finally tried Blackland Smokehouse in Sweetwater. They were originally in Roscoe (allegedly- I never saw them open). But they moved to Sweetwater at some point, and I caught them open.

Ribs, brisket, and jalapeno sausage were very good. Beans had a real good flavor. My only complaint was the sauce, which I like to get to dunk the bread in. They had a honey bbq sauce that had a weird flavor.

Next time I'll get pics.

Don't think they were top 50 but Sabar was written about in TM a couple times. Interesting way to close shop.

Gets even more interesting. He bought out Jirby's stake in Goldees. Wonder how the others at Goldees felt about that. Seems like they'd want to buy his stake over having another owner join in but who knows. This is a weird one IMO.

Has anyone been to the L&L steak night? I went back 5-6 pages, but didn't see it mentioned. Just saw pics on Reddit and it looks awesome. Feels like this thing more like a friends and family (and influencer) thing, maybe.

Blue Moon in Hearne is shutting down. They're attributing it to the rising cost of meat.

Brotherton's in Pflugerville posted they are in danger of having to close... tough time to own a bbq joint.

You can do it, but you have to book a reservation almost as soon as they open.

I hear that, and I'm used to it. But there is like no rhyme or reason (that I can find) on dates being added. I used to go to the old Lucia's in Dallas all the time and it was not as a big of a pain. At least then I knew I had to call on the first of the month and I had a 10% chance of getting a reservation for the following month.

Yeah no way I would do that unless I were out of town and just trying to support them. As a local I'm just gonna stop by for lunch this weekend.

The new reservations open up 90 days in advance thru open table on the website. They fill up about as fast as they open up. If you need Valentine's Day plans there will be extra availability for the special day!

The 90 days is good to know. Do you know when the next 90 days are added to Open Table, or if it's regularly updated at a specific part of the month/quarter?

I cannot set an alert on the Open Table web app because I have to set a specific day (which I have zero clue if that day would ever be available), and on the mobile app there is no option to set an alert for the steak experience.
