Howdy! My mom just got some unfortunate news and we are looking for a recommendation for a surgeon to do a breast cancer removal or possible mastectomy.

Her OB/GYN gave her some names, but also recommended she do her own research and ask around so I'm trying to help.

Anyone have somebody in San Antonio they recommend?

See the thread I bumped. Try PM'ing Plano. I also know Dr Brittany Deberry very well, great person. No idea who Plano went with. If she doesn't respond I will send her (Plano) an email.

My MIL was treated by DeBerry and the Start Center and I would recommend her to anyone looking in San Antonio for breast cancer treatment. My MIL is in remission.

Deberry and the Start center are highly thought of. Just for an additional option, my wife had her treatment through UT/mays/md Anderson and the care was outstanding. Lathrop is her oncologist

MD anderson

We tried ones here, but what we learned is the imaging and testing equipment at MD anderson surpass everything here. Here they were guessing at MD anderson, they had a clear plan.

DeBerry took care of my wife. I don't know if I can recommend her. It took 3 lumpectomies to give my wife the all clear. Very hard physically and mentally on her.
I just asked my wife and she said please interview Dr. Joseph Karam instead.

Side note, my wife's in the dental field and her patient is Dr. Amy Lang. One of the main Dr's that founded the Start center. Dr Lang and DeBerry had different opinions on my wife's path.

Get her to MD Anderson. 2 of my closest friends were diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in their late 40s and are still living a robust life 20 years later. MD Anderson saves lives.

Kahlenberg (Surg) and Fichtel (onc) are great options in SA area. Both took good care of my wife with diag of aggressive breast CA in 2013. She's doing very well now.
