I'm having issues with the leach field on my septic system. It's 33 years old, so it isn't entirely unexpected. 2 tank conventional system that pumps ~100' up a small hill to a mound in the back.

Any thoughts on replacement versus trying to jet and clean the laterals. The first company I had out wasnt a lot of help and didn't provide a lot of insight.

1st visitor was doom/gloom, selling an aerobic system = rip out tanks & tons of mature trees + $$$$$$
2nd visitor was long time honest tank pumper, teaching DIY how-to

• backflow prevent value on house hose bibb
• long brass firehose nozzle for garden hose
• cut hole top of each septic line near source, beginning of flow downhill
• insert hose, flow on full blast, begin pumping hose in-out, driving it deeper, as far as it will go
• seal line
• cover/mark spot with 12x12 tile, in case this ever has to be repeated (not yet for me)

Last time I had mine pumped, I had a plumber come out and run their jetter through the lines. My neighbor had to have work done on their system and go with an aerobic system. I do not want that.

I would clean it with a jetter first, see if that works. What happened to us was that the clay line had moved upwards into our leach field and completely stopped up the system so we had to replace it with an aerobic system. Boy oh BOY that is not what i wanted, but it has worked well for us so far.
