Just bought a house and the cooktop is electric. We love cooking on gas and will replace with a gas cooktop (yes, it has a gas line). Hoping to stay within a $2,000 budget for a 30".

Suggestions are welcomed! TIA

Too bad you can't expand to 36in
Not a slave to Consumer Reports that sometimes takes a narrow view or misses the boat on rating its prime function. But here's their opinons:

If you have not purchased already, i would really consider the Wolf. it will be a little higher but comes with a 2 year manufacturers warranty. I have sold appliances for the last 27 years. This is in my opinion the best cooktop you can get. CG304P/S $2290.

We bought a 36in DCS and have been really happy with it.
