Welp, after spending a lot of time and money on remodeling our house, I guess my wife and kids want to do it again on a smaller scale. Pray for me.

It's a 1977 Holiday Rambler.

I'm not going to argue that. We've rented an RV before, and I can't say I'm a huge fan. The kids and wife had wanted one for a while. Kids started putting their allowance, birthday, Christmas money in a jar. They saved up and found this. I wasn't going to deny their effort in saving. When I picked it up, I told the guy, "I just need to know it's going to make it back to my house." It did, and I'll start putting in the work on it soon.

As ugly as it is, the maintenance records and paperwork are all very well kept. That's my only optimistic spot.

I've thought about doing this. Fortunately, I live in the city and don't have the room to keep it on site.

The difference between your house and this is your house you're likely to get the money back on.

Who doesn't like a challenge?

We enjoyed watching your house & it's going to be fun watching the progress here, too.

I occasionally get the itch to restore an old Airstream, then I remember how I do things and realize I'll have $150,000 into an Airstream that might be worth $20,000 after restoration.

Buddy, sit down and figure out exactly how much money you plan to go put into rehabbing this RV. Think about how many hours you're going to spend on it as well. Give yourself half the minimum wage rate.

Now go take that same amount of money and go buy something from the last 10 years within your budget.

You are a three star poster, texas united donor. You don't need to be rehabbing a 50 year old RV. There's nothing left to rehab. Two generations of hippies and 20 generations of rabbits have called that RV home. Pay the nice people at camperworld or facebook marketplace their money, go get something new and go start camping this weekend.

Completely disagree. The amount of lessons and memories made with the kids during this project will be priceless. One day they'll be adults and saying , "Remember that old ****ty RV we rebuilt together? That was awesome."

I agree. Spending time with the kids is the most important part. But is the purpose to spend time camping or doing DIY projects? Or is it, spend time with the kids divided by the least amount of money? All are good pursuits here, but if you're gonna spend two years before you even haul this to the local state park just pony up the cash and get to doing what you bought the dang thing for in the first place.

Just wanted to share I gave your words the benefit of the doubt, and thought to myself, 'Maybe there is something salvageable here to work with the kids, lets scroll up and take a look at this RV again.'

Nope, nothing to salvage. Go return this to its original owner and act like you never even bought it when the seller asks you what you're doing. Full on George Costanza bit about coming in the next day after quitting.

You misunderstood what they will be saying...."We could have done some really cool camping trips with our free time, but instead, we didn't have any because dad made us rebuild that old ****ty RV."
