I am looking for an interior design professional to help with a construction project. This person will be responsible for helping design layout with my architect, then selecting flooring, finishes, fixtures, etc.

This person may help with furniture, but I am not looking for a professional furniture shopper. Will need experience with construction, kitchen/bath layout and cabinetry design.

This person does NOT need to be local.

Dang. For $1600, you think she'd give you the full hour.

She's not the first one I've come across super proud of her work. Looks like she has a team, so one of her junior designers may fit our budget.

What is included for the hour? I mean, what does a consultation entail? Might need some more details before deciding. Experienced professionals aren't cheap. I'd give them a ring to for a high level overview first to find out what is missing from cheap ones.

Lots of neighbors use her in West Memorial on various projects from full new house design, remodels, additions to old house and even holiday setup. Not sure on price. Her son is an Aggie, and they are good people. I have also worked with her mom.

I think she does the Interior design and they both have also moved into the construction side. Talk to her and ask her specifically what you want help with, and she will probably work with you. If she is doing Christmas decorations, she will also do other small jobs. With construction work, she will be familiar with build plans as well.

I will tell you, just like dealing with a lawyer or consultant, to save money with all these types of people, have your stuff in order when you talk to them. Ex. Her are my detailed house plans, these are the areas I want to design, these are the colors I like (bright, dark, etc.).

I would second the response about asking what the consultation entails. Some of them have a call and go over some general styles you will like and the consultation is a meeting after they have compiled a bunch of finishes and mood boards. Not just to go sit with them 1 time for 55 minutes.

It is just a 55 minute consultation. No deliverables or preparation.

They responded that they have a minimum of $1,000,000 for a project budget. Not what I am looking for.
