Recently noticed a few patches of sticker burrs in our backyard.

Aside from just pulling them by hand, anyone have good ideas on spot poison to kill the existing and then overall sprays/granulated to prevent future growth of these suckers?

What's commonly known as "two-four-dee":

2,4-D, or 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, is primarily used as a herbicide to control broadleaf weeds. It's a systemic herbicide, meaning it's absorbed by the plant and translocated throughout, causing it to die. 2,4-D is used in various settings, including agriculture, forestry, and residential lawns.

21-0-0 fertilizer, it can't tolerate the high nitrogen

Generally stopping those weeds:

-mow them down and bag before they get mature enough
-water enough that your normal lawn grass will move in
-fertilize the grass
-put down a weedkiller
-put down a pre-emergent beforehand next year to keep them at bay

I have a patch in my yard that always had them and 90% of it stemmed from being a gap in my sprinkler coverage, which led to weak grass growing, weeds took over, etc.
