From page 19 of my Whirlpool refrigerator owner's manual: The interior lights of this unit are LED and will never need to be replaced, Full stop. You can guess. It's 13 months old.

Whirlpool Technical Support: "Sir, I can see why you're confused. The LED doesn't need to be replaced. But the LED controller may need to be replaced periodically".

Warranty support broadly sucks these days. Companies skimp on quality and fight you tooth and nail when things fail.

I feel you. My GE fridge crapped out at 18 months. 6 Mos out of warranty. Compressor locked up and the unit was trash. Come to find out my credit card provider offers +1yr extended warranty coverage. I filed a clam and they paid me repair cost, so I was able recoup about half what I paid for the fridge.
