Is there a name for this type of faucet?

(Besides ugly!)
I know it doesn't look good, but we need to get another one with a cover like that so it can be attached from the front. Two plumbers have told us that is the only type of faucet that wouldn't require them to cut out a big piece of the outside wall for installation. It doesn't need to be exactly like this, just needs a cover...but I don't know if these things exist anymore.

Are you saying the pipes come from the wall cause it looks to me like in the picture the pipes go down.

Our actual faucet was really old and rusty so I removed it and threw it away before I knew what a crazy ordeal replacing it was going to be, so I don't have any pictures. This is just a picture I finally found online, but ours was the same

Other than being ugly, what is wrong with it?
Can it be rebuilt?
New seals and elbow grease would go a long way.

Are your plumbing pipes coming from the wall and protruding out horizontally or they coming from down below and connecting vertically?

Water connection is at near floor level, connected by the same type of faucet supply lines that all my super easy to replace faucets have had. So I (very wrongly!) assumed this would be easy as well.

Any pics from the underside of the faucet. Curious how the thing is actually connected.

I had an old house with a Dishmaster wall mount faucet. Old school looking because it was, but actually liked it. Might be something for this situation.

It looks like a wall mount faucet. Measure the distance between the supply line holes. The one you posted looks like it is an 8" center. They aren't cheap but a few online parts houses have some you can look at for $150 and up.

It may be worth a call to Delta Customer Service to see if they can provide any replacement parts. They have sent out parts to repair my bathtub faucet multiple times over a decade (hard water problems).
