My house was built in 1960 and my driveway had tons of upheave and drainage issues since the dirt was bad and there was no reinforcing. Started demo on it today.

Do you not need to do a three way to tie the new anpproach into the alley street?

Work continues today.
Rebar, forms, drainage pipe, demo of sidewalk.
Starting some grading. Will do a trench drain toward the middle of the driveway and tie it into an existing inlet that goes to the street in the front.
Digging out for the trench drain and more forming.
Man, all that rebar in the old concrete made taking it out a PAIN!

Based on your crap looking soil, be ready for more cracks. I would ask them to saw cut as soon as possible and cut into smaller sections than typical to keep the cracks to a minimum.

Prior to placing concrete, I buried conduits crossing under my driveway area for landscape lights and irrigation.
That is a great idea. Thankfully I already have irrigation back there. Could use some lighting though.

Had some base put down to counteract this. Concrete will also be 6" with bigger rebar.
What's going in the bottom of that trench drain? You're not just gonna let cement run down in there, right?
They need to put some bricks/rocks under that steel to elevate it. You don't want it lying directly on the base...that doesn't do much reinforcing.
They put it on chairs before they poured.
