This is a longshot, but do they sell anything that I could put on or in a chain link fence that would make it more difficult for my dogs to see skunks outside the fence (and vice versa!)? It would have to look nice or at least blend in to get the wife to approve!

My dogs can hear something outside our fence or walking down the street from inside the house.


You would be better off trying something that keeps the skunks away. Not sure what that would be, though.

You can always try those chain link privacy slats, but as '87 said, the dogs will still smell and/or hear the skunks.



Several places sell those, with a privacy factor from about 70% to almost 100%.

You got some good advice, I read above.
I agree no solutions in visual barriers + some consequences come with some.

Suggesting the solution lies in the Deterrent Approches, be they plants, smells, ground features, irrigation, sprays, elimination of attractants. - no mothballs! -

That said, have pursued most of those and still looking but with no outside dogs in this race, have turned focus on house & sheds damaging raccoons & squirrels relocating here due to neighboring developments' push.

The skunks (& possums) have been instrumental in removing termites, grubs, other pests and even the most impossible of all, the ground nesting yellowjackets (the horrors of such an attack are never forgotten)
