Thanks for your feedback…

Weird…

This hasn't come up with any of the other groups that we've marketed to…

And our sale metrics have been about 280% of what our 3rd party marketing firm had outlined…

Guys… I certainly never want to come off as being a jerk…

Especially when I'm trying to sell you something !!!

That being said, I think what a small (yet vocal - Welcome to TexAgs) group of you are losing sight of is that nowhere else in our marketing are we having this conceptualizing issue, and we're doing quite well - even from the people that have viewed this post.

I appreciate your feedback, and am willing to personally speak with any of you who may not understand what you're seeing…

Feel free to call the company at the 800 # listed on the site, and I'll speak with you personally.

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I don't want to get into a typical TexAgs spat… That's not how Aggies treat Aggies…

If you can't understand how it works, I'll do everything I can to help you.

I don't see him being an ass. Just only looking at things from his perspective. It's easy to do if you are too close to something. I was just trying to help as I have a little experience in product management.

100% the explanation makes sense. It just defeats the point of the website and marketing if it has to be explained over the phone or in person.

And while I'm glad to hear about sales exceeding expectations, I have no doubt they'd be even better if the product was better communicated.

And why would you? Do you really have a mechanism for measuring how many sales you're missing as a result? You're getting direct consumer feedback here.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the website and the feedback is legitimate. Don't be offended; use it as an opportunity. In digital sales (you surely know), you have to minimize the effort of the consumer. Every additional click, every additional line they have to read reduces your sales.

A simple request to see an image of the actual product is met by:

1) Go to the website and watch the video
2) Nobody else has had trouble conceptualizing what the product is except the dumbasses on TexAgs
3) Call me so I can help explain what it is because apparently you're too dumb to figure it out from the website

Your first two posts

I'd guess you were selling some sort of mat, so I go to your website (with a dumbass name) and I have to scroll to realize you're not selling a mat, but I'm still not sure what you're selling until I watch the video. And even then, the video isn't crystal clear on what the actual product is.

I don't know if you're ignorant, arrogant, or maybe a combination. But hey, maybe I'll call your 800 number and find out.

Guys -

Really took all this feedback (snarky and not snarky) to heart…

Hope you'll take a moment to read it…

Again, always want to be humble, never rude, but am pretty plain-spoken, honest and transparent.

I gotta be honest…

I had a real hard time understanding why, if someone was considering purchasing a product, and they had a hard time conceptualizing it, they wouldn't take just a few moments of their time to reach out -via free phone call - to the guy offering the product, to get their questions answered…

Turns out, via my online research, the world changed with the iPhone… Not just the more recent generations, but a great portion of all generations… Even my Boomer Generation…

According to multiple sources, the smart phone has turned a big portion of us into - their words… Petulant Children.

We live in a "Explain it to me like I'm 5 years old" world on pretty much everything…

Coupled with, "Make my life easy".

Based on their research, it's made us lazy and dumber… Less willing to "put in the work".

I look back to some of the initial questions I got on the post asking if there was a video…

My initial smiling MENTAL response was -

"Well, no sh*t, dumba**….
If you take 2 seconds to look at the website and scroll down about halfway down the home page, you'll see A VIDEO DEMONSTRATING THE PRODUCT."

Then came the same question from a second poster…

Then the entire posting devolved into "your website should do this, and you're a d*ck, if you can't do it our way."

"We're too lazy to read, and we're almost too lazy to think".

In true TexAgs fashion, the entire posting went from an offer for a unique product designed to HELP GOLFERS solve an age-old problem, to posters criticizing my marketing…

Even my offer to take my personal time to talk with anyone on the phone - to help them -was met with criticism and sarcasm…

If you're still reading…Here's what I can tell you…

I'm retired (71 years old)…
Class of '77

30+ year successful career in marketing things just like The Perfect Divot…

Made more money than I'll ever spend… More than my kids or grandkids will spend…

Not going to give this away, but certainly not doing it for the money…

I make about $6 margin on this item… That's it… Beer money….

I'm a lifetime golfer who kinda stumbled onto this concept, and got some incredibly knowledgeable people from the PGA of America Agronomy section to help make it actually work.

Wanted to invest my money to HELP GOLFERS….
That's it…

Especially us old dinosaurs who can struggle with joint pain.

Did I take your "we know how to market, and you don't" comments personally ? You bet I did.

This post is an exact reflection of why Coach Elko tells his players to stay off TexAgs…

It can be insufferable at times…. LOL !!

I apologize for trying to help you guys with a golf mat issue. My apology is real.

Good lord. Now we're all dumbasses and petulant children that are giving constructive feedback on your 1999 Geocities website. Yes, it needs to be simple. If I have to call am 800 number to figure out how your gimmick product works, guess what. No. This screams vague late night infomercial in web form.

Eff off, OP.

All those words - put a pic of the product (the whole product) on the home page of your site lol. Put device on mat where we can clearly see all components (no ball), put ball on the ring, hit ball.

This business is going absolutely nowhere if this is how you deal with feedback.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I bought one and will report back because I'm exclusively hitting on mats until May (unless I'm traveling).

I share the same frustrations as others but willing to try it out. Maybe you're afraid to show the entire product online for fear of being copied.

The internet is a rough place and snark and attitude is prevalent always but your responses are curious.

This forum would've been an outstanding place to do some market research and solicit feedback on the website, marketing strategy, etc. Instead we are told that if we don't understand the product we're stupid, lazy, impatient, petulant, etc. Really odd way to deal with potential customers.

Old timer, try this response. You can cut and paste this and I will edit mine out.

Guys, thanks for taking a look at my site. I am really excited about this product. If you think I need to add a couple pictures to better show the product I will take it to my group and see what they say and I will get with the website designer folks. Thanks for the feedback. While we are looking at the website, if there any other questions I can help with, please post up. Thanks,

I'll be interested to hear about the product. I don't love hitting from mats, some are better than others.

One thing I'm curious about, how much trouble is it to "reload" the thing? Guessing most of us are accustomed to just raking balls with a golf on the range as opposed to setting each one by hand.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Guys -

This has become comical at this point, but I'll play along to help you…

The pics on the site show and the site describes the ENTIRE device…

I'm not trying to hide anything… Wow, just wow…
Insult me some more, why don't you..

There's a 1/2" divot disc that holds the bottom apex of the ball 3/32" off the mat, a steel tether (covered in vinyl), that connects the disc to a larger counter weight to keep the little divot disc from flying out onto the range…

It's all delivered in a cloth bag with a logo sticker…

That's all there is to it… You'd know all that if you took 10 minutes to simply peruse the website…

Geez… This isn't rocket science… It's all built from off the shelf stuff you can buy yourself from multiple sources… That's why I filed for patent…

It just works… I'm proud of that… Nothing wrong with being proud of something that helps people…

I've had PGA Pros, LPGA Pros, Certified PGA Instructors use it and test it… Took about 18 months to get it right…

Ok… Enough with the "high road"…

Sorry I didn't run it past the golf and marketing "experts" on TexAgs first…

I charge what I charge, because shipping is roughly $10, and I donate 50% of my NET PROFITS to help support PGA HOPE.

I give a freakin' LIFETIME WARRANTY on the product.

Again, you'd know all that if you took 10 minutes to simply peruse the website… Guess that's too much to ask…

See, I can be condescending, too…

I put $6 in my pocket on each of these… About $1800 a month… LOLPoor beer and burger money…

Nobody in the entire golf world has had the trust issues and make the crappy comments you guys have…

I guess expected more out of Aggies…
Seriously, some of you guys actually are showing yourself to be insufferable children…

You seem to get lots of joy posing as tough guys…
Buy it, don't buy it… I don't care…

I thought it would be something you guys would like…

Keep hitting off crappy mats… I don't care…
Get the post pulled off TexAgs… I don't care…
Don't let me help you…

Sheesh…

A+ troll job. You had me.
maroonthrunthru
How long do you want to ignore this user?
As shown in the video, the divot disc is tethered to a counter weight that keeps it from flying off onto the range or video screen..

You simply pull the tether cable back and reload a new ball on the divot disc… Rinse and repeat…

I have an instructor who can reload the disc with his club and his foot.

I haven't been able to master that technique… I have to bend over and place a new ball on with my hand…

I will tell you that my practice has slowed down ad become more methodical, instead of simply mindlessly banging balls..
maroonthrunthru
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Thanks for your input…

My partners have told me to tell everyone on this site to Eff Off based on the snarky comments…

Of course, they're not Aggies…
I'm quickly getting to that point… It's sad, but this site doesn't appear to be worth the hassle…

Oh, BTW…

Thanks to the 9 Aggies who bought The Divot in the past hour…

I really don't need this product but have had fun following the thread!

I checked out the website and have to agree with a lot of the a******s and petulant children.... um, posters. I get the concept, mostly because of the inspired marketing here. But, would be nice to see the actual device on which the ball is placed.

I am over 50 and can read but don't see any truly detailed video of this product in action...I do see videos of:

1. guy claiming it's great
2. different real divots flying in the air
3. slow motion of a ball, I assume on a mat popping up before being hit, but there is no explanation of what I am watching.
4. guy hitting off the product into a lake with no sound...seems to be the demonstration but it is very short.

should also list the warranty on the product, 1 year? 90 days...what if I break it the first week? In your post you say lifetime warranty that should be up front on the first page.

Says this has been tested by tour pros, maybe have one of them as a spokesperson and give them a cut...next stop...Shark Tank!

product makes sense, should have an aggie discount and a place for testimonials from your friends here. price seems reasonable vs flat mat tees....as a matter of fact I'd say on the front page it cost the equivalent of two boxes of flat tees and lasts a lifetime.
