I'm interested in joining a country club and wanted to see if anyone has suggestions for good options around College Station, The Woodlands, Houston, or East Texas. I'm looking for a club that offers a welcoming atmosphere, solid amenities (golf, fitness, or social), and is reasonably priced.

If you're a member anywhere you'd recommend or know of any current membership promotions or special rates I'd really appreciate your insight. I'm open to hearing what makes your club stand out and what the overall experience has been like.

These are the type of posts that are so perplexing to me. OP has been on the site for almost 4 years. This is his/her first post ever. Which is somewhat odd in itself but, whatever. Some people are just lurkers.

But what finally gets him/her out of their shell? Not opinions on the country club near where they live. No, they're considering a 300 square mile radius (who doesn't love a good 3-hour round trip drive to their CC?). And, then, when people earnestly engage, OP disappears.

Seriously, what's going on here? Is there some reason I'm unaware of that would explain this?

WTF kind of range is this? You willing to drive 2+ hours to your club?

I mean it's 30 minutes to get to the closest "affordable" public course for me, so 2 hours for a club seems legit
