Of course golf team tryouts are this week.

On the plus side, it was a close out driver and was $100

On the minus side, now I have to shell out for a new one….and the club fitter at the pga store is off this week…meh.

Do you know the specs of the broken driver? Should be able to order based off that or find a cheap replacement that will do in the meantime

the broken driver was a piece of junk. I didn't want to spend big bucks if he wasn't going to take golf seriously.

and the fitting is free....

now I'll just have him hit some used clubs at the store and we can decide which one he likes.

I'd think that fitting is most about the shaft. If he liked the shaft on the now cracked club and it has a quick change tip, you can just get a newer driver head from the same maker and put it on the same shaft.

My 15 y/o snapped the head off TWO drivers in back to back days last week. Luckily they weren't super expensive. He's a former baseball player who is just learning golf, so that's been a challenge. I saw one of the swings and honestly it didn't look that bad. Maybe just hit down on it too hard. Both drivers broke in the exact same spot...

Wilson D300 is what he cracked, based on reviews I have read, isn't the right club for him anyhow swing speed is a bit too high....but I wasn't buying a nice club for a beginning kid...ha.

He is also a former baseball player like putu's kid

Trying out used drivers tonight, I'll let you know on the Sim 2.

Unfortunately the store did not have any used Sim 2's so the kid hit a Ping G430, Tour Edge E524 and a Mizuno STZ.

The Tour Edge had the highest ball speed which was a bit surprising considering it was the cheapest.

How much do you want for one of the Sim 2 heads.

as a HS coach, if he/she is a freshman, they are gonna grow. Its a tough spot to be in. Some FR are not ready for "adult" clubs in length, weight or flex. Some are.

If they have not gone through a growth spurt yet, and you want to have clubs that fit now - prepare to get them re-fit when they grow 8" + in a year.

Kid hit some drivers again yesterday:

Callaway Paradym kicked the crap out of the Callaway Mavrik which was not a surprise.

He also hit a PXG Tour driver and could smash but the ball was all over the place.



Anyone have shaft recommendations for the Sim 2 that will not break the bank?

You might try a Kai'li Blue. That's what my son swings on his driver and I think he's around that swing speed.

PGA store didn't have any compatible shafts so we went to golf galaxy and went with a kuro kage 60s

We will see how it works out.
