Have some leftover time on a trip, any recommendations on The Hay or Pacific Groves (Poor Man's Pebble)?

I got all the Pebble, Spyglass, etc covered, just have some leftover time and trying to figure out what makes the better morning.

Hay is a 1-2 hour pitch n putt, lots of fun but not the same time commitment as Pacific groves

That probably fits my schedule better and looks like there is a putting course too.

I can stretch some time out to include Pacific Groves if it's worth it, have you played?

If you're stretching time out to get in a round see if you can get over to Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz

Pasatiempo - it's worth rearranging things.

Poppy Hills is also great.

I've heard The Preserve is cool.

Its probably been 8 years or so, but I thought PG was awesome. One of the better $ values I feel like Ive ever paid for a course. Infinitely better than just about any Texas muni Ive ever played.

The Hay was fun but I would rather play PG.

We finished our 9 holes on The Hay and the starter looked around and said "Not too busy. Want to go around again?". So we did.

PG is fine. Front nine is a typical parkland muni. The back nine you go back and forth between some dunes. You're never really on the ocean. Fun course though.

Monterey Pines by the airport is cheap, short, and pretty easy but in great shape and fun for what it is. I played it a few times when I was in Monterey last year.

Poppy Hills is a good course and worth playing.

I played either Bayonet or Blackhorse (one was closed) and it was good but not super memorable.

As others have said Pasatiempo is worth rearranging your schedule. Only got to play the front because they were renovating the back but it was still my favorite course I played in the area (even more than Pebble or Spyglass).

This is great! Pass is already on the list too. I'll check out PG or one of the others listed.

Between those 2, definitely Pacific Grove. As mentioned, the front 9 is just park style that takes you out and back. But the back 9 is interesting amidst the sand dunes. Less of than 6000 yards, but the price is right and it's fun. It isn't fully in the water, but it's close. When I played it several years ago, the greens were in just as good of shape as Pebble's - great condition, same speed, etc. Served as a nice warmup for my round there the next day.

Sidenote, just off from the back 9 (near 18 tee) is where John Denver ran out of gas in his plane and took a header into the bay. I think there is a memorial plaque there

Only course I've played on the peninsula is Cypress Point. Give em a call. It's a great loop.

My son and I are going out to watch the Walker Cup at Cypress Point in a couple of weeks. While out there, we are going to play Spyglass, Pacific Grove, Poppy Hills, Bayonet and Blackhorse. Would like to play Pasatiempo but not willing to pay $460 each to play. You can find a few GolfNow times to play it a little cheaper (around $400) but still pricey and those times did not work with our schedule. Really looking forward to being able to walk Cypress Point.

Is Passatiempo on your "covered" list? If not, it's the winner
