I was recently denied health insurance because underwriting found a bunch of health information they didn't like. I request a copy of the report from the reporting agency. There's a ton of stuff on there that's NOT ME. I contacted the reporting agency and tell them that there is stuff on there that isn't me. I've never lived in the state where this particular physician is located. I've never visited a doctor in that state. I've never been to that state. That's not me you've made a mistake.

Then they tell me what I need to do to remove this information from my medical history report. I have to put in all the work and jump through all the hoops. This isn't right.

I'd start with a certified letter to the reporting agency stating those facts. They have an obligation to correct bad data; I believe the question is how fast they work to do so.

You may want to file an official complaint against the insurance company with the Texas Dept. of Insurance. The insurance companies take these seriously, and usually work very quickly to respond, and they can probably get to the bottom of it with the credit reporting agency more quickly than an individual questioning a credit report. I know it's "not their fault", but it's their vendor who screwed up, and they won't like that blemish to stay on their record.

Had an issue with life and disability insurance recently. I did some testing to proactively check for issues, I had some familial stuff, and got denied.

I also hurt my back 3 years ago. Didn't miss a day of work. No surgeries. Only medical treatment prescribed by a doctor were NSAIDs. I have continued Pt for 3 years to help prevent another injury. Denied disability coverage for ongoing back problem due to PT and NSAIDs. So me being proactive and trying to lower my health costs has made me uninsurable for disability. The system is broken

To be fair, TWO of these medical history companies has this bad info on me. Never the less, I may take this route.

TDI was USELESS. I'll file the complaint, but it sounds like it will be a waste of time.

Patience, my dear wombat.

Filing the complaint is what's important. The TDI won't help you at all up front. They're just a place to file the complaint. Once the insurance company is notified, they have xx number of days to respond and contact you. At this point, lay out your case, and see if they will help. In any case, they have to notify the TDI about the resolution to your complaint, and while they may just say "it's not our problem", you might get lucky and move things along more quickly. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, here - may be a waste of time at the end of the day.

Sorry to disappoint you that it wasn't an instant fix - I'm just trying to help you pursue another avenue. Good luck!

I'm frustrated that my situation is an "other" and completing the complaint online doesn't really fit theur forms. Abd you must do it online. For example, I am supposed to submit a copy of my insurance card. For an insurance policy we no longer hold... and I don't have the card. BUT the problem is actually with the OTHER patient's insurance policy. I will do it, but I do need to be patient.
