We went about 10 years ago for a long weekend, and were on a tight budget. We stayed at a Wyndham downtown; it was in a good location and recall it being pretty nice.

The Fort Sumter tour was fun, tour of old town by horse drawn carriage, and the Twinings tea plantation tour were all fun things. We drove to a decent beach, but it was about an hour away. We drove through Citadel campus, but there was nothing of note there.

The shopping is supposed to be great, but not really my jam.

Food was fantastic and fits a variety of budgets, but you have to get the she crab soup.

When we played USCe at Kyle some nice Charleston residents gave me a list of their favorite place to eat. Here they are, and these are their words:

167 Raw
Best oysters I've ever had. Small place and they don't take reservations so good to pop in midday.

Little Jack's Tavern
Best burger in town.

Page's Okra Grill
Great breakfast place

FIG (Food is Good)
Darius Rucker's favorite restaurant

The Royal Tern
Great Seafood on Johns Island

The Darling Oyster Bar
Chowder fries. They are smack your granny good.

Hall's Chop House
Steaks and Seafood. Gospel lunch every Sunday and live music every night.

Downtown near the market

Pavilion Bar
