Anybody have some good recommendations for a family trip they've taken using hotels or resorts available through the Chase Sapphire portal?

Debating on taking the kids somewhere or holding on to them for a bigger trip with my wife.

We have done the majority of our family travel the last 6 years entirely on points (Chase & Amex)

How many points do you have and where are you interested in going?

Transferring Chase to Hyatt is one of the better redemptions, especially for Hyatt's All Inclusive Properties. Hyatt is increasing the points required for all categories in May, so if interested, you should book before then.

It is about 500k points - interested in going somewhere up north.

My wife found a place in Pennsylvania, I think the airfare will wipe out our points (family of 5) and the resort stay itself will run about $5k for a week.

I will echo that transferring points to Hyatt gets you an amazing bang for your buck. Find a Hyatt you want to go to and work your way back to the flights.

Then transfer more points to united or southwest, both 1:1 for flights. Booking through the portal is not saving you anything and the cash equivalency is maybe $5k to 6.2k if you just booked with cash.

If you do some work, those 500k points could be worth 4 cents each in travel between flights and hotels.

To get you started, get a world of Hyatt account and search using points through Hyatt's website. When you find what you want, then transfer the points to your hyatt account, it is almost instant then book.

Same with United and Southwest, search flights by points, then transfer after you find what you are looking for. United is great that if the points drop, you can rebook and get those points back.

Up north is great, especially in the summer. I haven't sent many people to PA, but if you found a place you like, then go for it!

The flights should definitely not take up 500k points. Not sure your dates or your home airport but no way should it be 500k. Use PointsYeah or another tool to help find ideas/options.

If you're not transferring to Hyatt (or others), booking travel through the Chase Travel portal will allow you to redeem points for 1.25 - 1.5 cents per point so a 5k stay would be 333k to 400k points.
