Got back earlier this week from a family trip to Rome and Barcelona.

My wife and I have been to both before (Rome twice before) so this trip was for the kids (17 & 14) to get them introduced to some of the great cities of Europe.

We landed in Rome late Sunday, flew to Barcelona on Thurs, flew home Monday.

In Rome we did the Colosium, a walking food tour, The Vatican, and a pasta making class. The Sistine Chapel is one of the coolest places I've been - I love it and its the only thing we've repeated on all 3 trips.

It is rare that our family of four is fully in unison in anything but the pasta making class was unanimously voted everyone's favorite thing we did.

I don't think I'll be back to Rome again - it felt like it was mostly middle easterners, dark dirty alleyways, and scooters.

In Barcelona we did a tour of Sagrada Familia, went to the Picasso Museum, went to Camp Nou for a Barca FC match, and did a walking food tour.

When my wife and I saw Sagrada Familia back in 2004 the interior was still under construction.....this time the inside was complete and it was the most amazing building I've ever been in. I was blown away. (it was the top vote getter from 3 of us....a dinner we had was my daughter's favorite).

Camp Nou was also awesome.

It was pretty striking how different the two cities were - my son liked Rome more but the rest of us liked Barcelona more.

My favorite food in Rome was the Suppli and in Barcelona it was the bombas.
