Wife, two boys (8 and 9) and I have been going here for about 3 years. We go 2-3 time a year because we're in DFW and it's really easy, close and fun. We've rented boats, hiked, paddle boats, etc. Is there anything we might be missing within 45 minute drive that we should do? I'm game for hanging out at the cabin the entire time but we try to do a couple cool things each trip, other than drinking beer from Beavers Bend Brewery which I'll definitely be doing.

Fun fact for those that go to Beavers Bend Brewery. I have a side business doing catering and asked the hot dog guy once how many hot dogs he sells a day and he said anywhere between 300-500/day. Little math here means $3000-$5000/day in revenue * 7 and this dude from Jamaica is making a fortune on $11 hotdogs. It's not his trailer and he pays the venue $1,000/month in rent. I still can't believe it and it's been a couple years since he told me that.

Have you tried fly fishing? The river below the dam is stocked with trout.

whats the draw to the broken bow area. My wife has mentioned before she wants to go and take the kids but I am skeptical. I just pulled it up on google maps and it all reminds me of hwy 105 driving through montgomery/conroe?

Look at Hochatown rather than Broken Bow. If you like the outdoors, lakes/rivers/waterfalls, hiking, beer then it's your place. Investors bought up the lots and have created thousands of nice "cabins" (they're houses) which has kept the price down. It's mostly about the outdoors though. Every cabin has fire pit, hot tub, grill, and many have playgrounds. We will have dinner out one night (maybe two) and I'll grill the rest of the time while the family sits by the fire or watches a movie in the hot tub.

Cabin we try to stay at most trips
