My daughter is singing with the Rockettes so of course we came but it's terrible right now. So packed. Do not recommend. We came in April and it was nice and no biggie. Every restaurant is full, ever store you'd wanna visit has a line around the corner to get in. Our youngest wanted to go to FAO Swarz but looked like over an hour wait to get in.

Hmmm not my experience at all last year in mid December, now restaurants I made reservations for. I know we went to FAO Swartz at opening time and went right in. I'll be there on the 17th. I will report back with my experience is

We booked a Toy Soldier experience and didn't have to wait in line or anything.

We did the "during store hours" and yeah it cost money, but it was nice having the customized tour for our son.

I absolutely LOVE new york in december.

Midtown (especially between broadway and 3rd ave) will absolutely be packed right now. That said, Manhattan is bigger than midtown.

I flew to NYC on 12/26 last year and thought it was pretty manageable as long as you avoided 5th avenue in midtown. We were able to drop in for dinner a couple of times and change a reservation at Le Bernadin same day. I will say that if feels like the crowds have grown since Covid. I was up for work in mid December in 2019, and it was much different than what I experienced last year. I will also echo that getting out of midtown and checking out other parts of NYC (Upper East Side or DUMBO / Brooklyn Heights) can help with getting away from the crowds and make the experience much more enjoyable.

I got back from NYC this morning. My wife likes taking the kids for the Christmas stuff. It was more crowded this weekend than I've ever seen. It is what it is and what you should expect.

We were there last week. I've gone for work during the week after Thanksgiving for 3 or 4 years. This was the busiest I remember but still fun. Christmas is peak time especially when the weather is good and the on the weekend.

Not a huge crowd person, so not a huge NYC person in general, but I think NYC in December is worth it.

Just returned last night after a 3 night stay in Times Square. We had pre-planned many things including dinner reservations and had a great time. Sunday night was very busy at the tree and FAO but overall we moved around easily.

We went last December too, had a great time. Rode the subway 2-3 times a day, with kids. Saw some nuts, but we see them in Austin all the time so no biggie. Don't recall having much issue getting a dinner reservation, we were flexible.

Stay away from 5th Av or Times Sq and you're fine. Battery Park is fantastic and so un-NYC

NYC is special at Christmas! Currently here, yes it's crowded in some places but overall great. Important to have reservations and a strategy

Save your money and go international. NYC in December is nothing memorable especially around time square. ****ty subways, expensive food/lodging, and inconvenient travel to and from the airport.

Everyone has different preferences of course, but I can't imagine not enjoying a December trip to NYC unless something truly heinous happens during your trip. I take my daughter every year in June and December, and we enjoy both for different reasons. But December is magical if, as mentioned above, you plan properly and have strategies to pivot if it becomes necessary.

Last year we stayed at Lotte in Midtown. Yeah, big tree in our courtyard. Big crowds. Who cares. It was our place. We could leave out the front door. There are a couple areas that draw big crowds. You learn real quick to go around those couple of places. Do that, enjoy Christmas weather, and eat well.

We ate great pizza, had a couple of great meals at top end restaurants, and had access to a Maybach at our hotel. Live right, have fun, and avoid most of the crowds. Christmas is awesome in the City.
