I'm thinking about booking a trip there for a few days before Christmas. Has anyone been and have any feedback on the resort? Also, assuming we book the trip, does anyone have any recs for other things to see or do in San Pedro?

Haven't personally been but have coworkers who have sent clients and it's been rave reviews. Some complaints about seaweed but that shouldn't be an issue over Christmas.

Stayed there in October, first time staying south of the bridge. Nice resort, good variety of restaurants, friendly service, would stay there again. Having a dive shop on-site was a nice bonus.

As far as other things to do in San Pedro, snorkeling and/or diving is a must. We always head to Secret Beach once or twice for our beach day, although there is a beach at the Alaia (couldn't use it in October due to all the sargassum). Fishing is an option. Catamaran day-trip is fun, there are several different outfits to choose from. Lots of great dining options in San Pedro so don't plan on eating all of your meals at the resort, that would be short-changing yourself.

I've stayed next door at Victoria House, which is very nice. Wouldn't hesitate to stay at Alaia if I had points.
