Planning a trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for F1 next year. Based in Austin, curious if it would just be better to drive up to Dallas or Houston and depart from there which is what I did for Abu Dhabi.

Jealous! Should be awesome. Taking my son to the F1 COTA next month.

The fastest option is going to be either DFW/IAH to DOH/DXB and then connect to JED. Leaving from a smaller town in TX will likely route you through one of those two major airports anyway. Flying through Europe will be the longest way to get there but if you add a stopover somewhere you want to visit, can be worth it!

Not sure what cabin you'll fly but ME airlines (Qatar or Emirates) are some of the best, especially in business.

Lmk if you need help with tickets/packages, I've got some great partners with F1 connections. Feel free to reach out to the email below if you've got any questions!

Unless there is a significant cost savings or time savings, go to the one closest to your house and just connect. It isn't the drive there, it's the drive home that sucks. You will be tired and jet lagged. Driving 2-3 hours sucks. Go to the close one, have a drink or two and enjoy the trip.

Qatar business class is amazing, but Emirates premium economy looks very interesting for much less money. It's not like the US airlines premium economy sections that have a couple of inches of extra legroom.

Are you planning to hang around and visit anything else while you're there?

I highly recommend the Nabatean tombs at Al Ula.

If you get a chance to experience the Red Sea, the scuba/snorkeling is incredible.

And for my money, the drive up to Taif at 7,000 feet is a pretty impressive one.

With respect to your trip, any airline preference or alliance preference?

Internationally, I've flown American, British Airways, Singapore, Emirates and Qatar this year. And I've flown out of Intercontinental and DFW this year.

And, I've been to KSA this year.

I've only been to F1 twice, both in Singapore.

I'd love to go to Jeddah for the F1 but I think I'm going to do the World Baseball Classic in Puerto Rico in 2026 so it'll be 2027 before I go to Jeddah.
