Anyone ever stay there? We were thinking of taking a long vacation there but would love some advice for the area.

Downscale version of FT L or Miami/South Beach.
Has a boardwalk and Margaritaville resort. Casino and racetrack there also

Just chill and write a book. Gamble, go to the beach, stuff like that. Fort Lauderdale is cheaper for month long rentals though.

Hollywood has always seemed pretty grimy when I've driven through there.

Fort Lauderdale has experienced a ton a new development in the past decade but still not very cohesive.

I go to the area pretty much annually and I find it weird some folks are delineating Fort Lauderdale vs Hollywood FL. I consider that area and into Pompano the same thing really. Especially since any way you slice it, you probably have to get a car so it is easy to go to any of them from the other.

I do like the area for what it's worth. Yeah the new development is a bit of a hot mess. But I will say as long as you aren't headed into Miami, you can get around that area with relatively low traffic, it's affordable (other than spring break) and the beaches and food are pretty good.

The Hollywood FL Food Tour with Steve is a blast. The restaurants are unique and the food is delicious.

We love Ft L. Great restaurants/beaches/ etc. be prepared to $$$. Try to go annually from Hou. Missed this year. But hitting Naples FL next 3O days
