I'm driving to Oklahoma City next week. Any suggestions on the best route? (And yes I know that Apple and Google maps can get me there. I'm just looking for any suggestions that help me avoid problem areas.)

Suck it up man. There is no fun way unless you are really taking the scenic route. Just get on the interstate and knock it out.

I-35 S
I-35 E
I-35 W

If you choose wisely you can stop in West and get a tasty snack.

Went from Cypress many times. Your best bet is to check maps the morning you go and either go I-35 or 99 to I-45. I-35 is a nicer drive but I-45 can be faster depending on construction

35 W through Fort Worth will almost always be your best bet.
