Wife decided to buy an off road mini camper so I volunteered to come get it. Seems like an ok town, I am shocked at the massive amount of development going on. Also surprised how much manufacturing seems to happen here

One observation... I thought it would be a bunch of fit outdoorsy types but the obesity levels are REALLY high. It's like if you bleached san Antonio

I spend a lot of time in Boise and I've not had the same observation about the people as you. Everyone I know there lives in the outdoors. The number of people I see out on the greenbelt and in the parks year-round is astounding. Plus it's a big college town. I'd reckon you're hanging out with the lolfat tourists.

It's not the most interesting part of Idaho, which is a gorgeous state. But I've said that if I ever left Texas, I could picture myself living in Boise simply because of the relatively temperate climate, the amenities, and the outdoor lifestyle. I'm not alone in that. It and its suburbs have become some of the fastest growing cities in the US for the last several years. The development and number of cranes in the downtown footprint is crazy.

If you need any pointers or suggestions, let me know. The Wylder is probably my favorite restaurant in Idaho.

I love Boise. My wife loves Boise. My daughter loves Boise.

It's a 6 hr. drive for us, but we do it every few years (summer trip to the Sawtooths; ski trip to Sun Valley). Phenomenal drive there: through the entire Columbia Gorge, through the Blue Mountains (Wallowa on the left, Elkhorns on the right). A stop in Ontario, OR for the Garden Answer ladies' store (wife is a major gardner).

Bogus Basin is a hit winter or summer. They permit overnight parking in their lots. Chef kiss gravel and MTB rides. Boise Fry Co for potatoes. You're in Idaho.

Edit: Yeah, wrong crowd as CDub06 says. There are people that are born/raised there that can be thicc. But there's a growing transplant pop that are only there for the hobbies. A lot of pro cyclist are starting to come out of Boise as well. The ride to Bogus (18m climb, 5k elevation) is littered every day of the week with bikes. Rebecca's Private is one of the largest gravel bike events in the US now.

I love Boise! Have spent a lot of time there for work and definitely haven't noticed that about the populace. Everyone I know there is super active and outdoorsy. I've considered living there myself, but the direct flight routes available from there would make work travel really inconvenient for me. Maybe one day…
