Good evening. My family and I are looking at heading to Whistler for Christmas this year. We are from Dallas but have made it an annual tradition to go skiing each Christmas and experience a magical White Christmas. I am wondering if any of y'all have been there for Christmas and how the snow quality is / how much there is as well as any food / must-do recommendations while we're there. Thank you!

Christmas is early for any ski hill. The have decent snow making.

We have taken the family there 2 times over Christmas/New Years…2020 and 2023. 2020 had fairytale snow, and 2023 we were in shorts and not a flake of snow to be seen down at the village. It did snow 8" on Christmas Day oddly enough which made the kids happy, then it all melted again the day after. Couldn't ski down to the base and had to offload on the gondola halfway up. Great place either way though as there's plenty to do!

Whistler village only sits about 2000' above sea level. You go from sea level with views of Victoria island to the village in 40 mins. It's crazy! In my experience, they always end up with snow, sometimes it's just not until mid February. Even then, the 2010 Olympics (held in Vancouver/whistler) notably had very little mountain snow coverage.

Whistler is my favorite ski destination of all time, but if white Christmas is a driving factor on location there are more surefire picks available

If y'all decide to go anyways

Apres ski:
Garibaldi lift co for grand ceasars
Dub linh gate for pulled pork nachos
Splitz grill for burgers and apres-ski happy hour

Dinner
21 steps
Earls
Araxi

I love staying in the village at Whistler base. Once I park the car I don't get back in it until it's time to head home.

Really? Wow. Whistler is cool but hardly that cool. Its not even a top 5 in most books.

I would consider Banff instead. Just my 2 cents
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Just curious, what's your top 5? I've been to plenty ski areas in N.A.
