So much for loyalty. Now they want to act like an airline using spend amounts and push their co-brand garbage CC even more to try and keep your status.

I understand this sucks, but did you see their reasoning? It is due to having an extremely large number of platinum and above

They are trying to figure out a way to not have everybody and their brother be on the top elite because it waters it down.

But I understand, it sucks for the people that are already there.

Here is an excerpt:

From 2021 to 2024, we have more than doubled the number of Platinum guests and more than tripled the number of Diamond guests in the VIFP program.

On our Excel class ships, on average, more than 1200 guests are Platinum or Diamond, making it nearly impossible to provide meaningful priority benefits, and we face the same situation on virtually all other ship classes and itineraries.

It's happening all across travel. Airport lounges, etc.

More people are traveling, too many with status. Must make it harder bc status doesn't mean a thing if everyone's got it

We cruise on casino offers. I haven't payed to cruise since the first one. I will be fine to keep my status based on what I spend, but no way my kids stay platinum. $16k+ every 2 years to keep something you've already earned is pretty ridiculous.

We've only cruised Carnival. Mainly because we get great offers and I kinda like trashy people. I can get free offers from other lines and Carnival just gave me a reason to explore some other options.

How much have you lost in the casino for all of those "free" cruises?

I usually bring what the cruise would cost for 4 of us. Maybe 4 or 5 cruises out of 20, I have lost all of it. Last cruise I had $1,000 free play and played on that all week, never even touching my wallet. It's all entertainment though. I would spend money in Lake Charles or Vegas if it's not on a ship.

My girlfriend sold her condo at Dockside in Charleston last summer which was so close to a Carnival port you could walk to the gangway. I mentioned a couple times we should go on a weekend cruise. She said hell no.
