I've read through a few old threads, but looking for more suggestions for a trip in late July.
Arrive in Stavanger - 2 days
We'll be arriving and staying in Stavanger area or one of the smaller outlying towns further inland.
Preikestolen /Pulpit Rock hike is on the must-list.
Drive Lysevegen Road
Mnafossen Waterfall
Other suggestions in the area?
Boat tours worth it?
Karmoy/Kopervik area (near Haugesund) - 3 days
Visiting relatives for 2-3 days, probably no time for anything that takes longer than 2 hours including travel.
After this, it's sort of up in the air. We have 4-5 days left at that point.
Route plan is to head north to Bergen then Alesund. Perhaps on to the Trondheim area (tentative plan to fly home from there so we don't have to backtrack). Branch off to sites as needed.
Where is a good town to use as a base of operations? We were thinking Alesund but not sure how convenient that is to a lot of the sites/parks. Is there a good spot between Bergen and Alesund to use for a night?
There are a lot of National Parks, which are the must sees? How accessible are these by vehicle?
Nature/scenery/views is the priority over museums/city stuff for us. But hikes need to be reasonable...nothing more than 4-8 miles, lower end of that if high difficulty/steep.
