Headed to that area for a week with family and friends after July 4th weekend. Any recommendations for brewery / wineries and restaurants for a large group? Our plan is to pickup pizza somewhere local for the first night, but then will eat out for dinner 1-2 more nights most likely.

Secondly, are there any must-see or do activities to take the kids?

We were there last week and had lunch at Bear King Brewery. Wife and I got a couple burgers and they were great with excellent fries. It's right behind Bluebonnet Cafe.

Double Horn Brewery is the best brew pub. great fish and chips to go with excellent beers.

Save the world brewer is the best straight brewery. it's mostly outdoors.

Bear King is good but not quite at the level of those 2.

Depending on the ages of the kiddos Sweet Berry Farm is a fun time. Strawberry picking is probably over for the year but they have other stuff to do out there.

It is going to be hot around that time, so you should spend plenty of time on the water or doing things that avoid the midday heat.

Longhorn Cavern State Park isn't far away, and the kids should really enjoy it. It is a good way to get out of the heat. They offer timed tours in the cavern, so I would suggest you book ahead instead of showing up and hoping for some available time slots.

You should have at least one meal at the Bluebonnet Cafe and try a variety of their pies.

Drive to Pottery Ranch and meander around looking at everything they offer. They have some pretty cool stuff for inside and outside the home. Marble Falls has also done a great job with their Main Square. There are lots of little shops and you could spend a couple of hours shopping in one spot.

You are about an hour away from Fredericksburg if you want to check out the Pacific War Museum.

I haven't been to any wineries in Marble Falls, but Perissos Vineyard and Torr Na Lochs are very good. They are about a 30-minute drive from MF.

Storm's Drive-In in Burnet is a great place for some burgers and shakes, but it is also another 20 minutes drive.

I second the Save the World Brewery. The beers there are great including Chasing Broncos which Forbes named the best hazy IPA in the world. It's not fancy, but it's a cool spot to hang out and have a few beers. It also has a play area for kiddos.

Also, they just opened the Round Mountain Cider Mill which is just a few miles south of Marble Falls. My parents went the weekend they opened and really enjoyed it. Apparently it has a self-serve cider/craft beer taproom.

Real Ale Brewery has a great tap room and beer garden - just down the road in Blanco. Usually has some food trucks and Old 300 BBQ is at the town square.

I've been there many times with my kiddos. They're suckers for blizzards when they go out to see their grandparents in MF. I'll drop your TA name next time and see if they throw in a few free blizzards!

I fourth Save the World Brewery. It has the best collection of Belgian beers I've ever seen.

Buy the crackers, cheese, and sausage, and make an afternoon of it. I would try to get there and watch the Super Regionals and the CWS.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

If you're going through Lago Vista, Stop at Lago Vista Brewing too. Aggie owned. Bonfire Amber is great!

They do have a mean plate of Machacado con Huevo a la Mexicana. Other than that I see them as more of a tacos gringos kinda place.

If I'm eating Tex-Mex/Tacos in Marble Falls I'm going to Pablitos Taqueria & Chuspy's Burritos.
