Is United Airlines strict about their carry on policy? I kept hearing in the news that airlines were changing their carry on sizes to be in line with international carriers in 2025. United's site says that carry on in limited to 22X9X14. But I think that was their listed sizes even prior to 2025. My current carry on that I have used on United for the last 5 years is 23X10X15 and it has never been a problem.

For people that have flown in 2025 does it seem like United is being stricter than in previous years?

I fly United a couple times a month. The carry on I typically use is roughly the same size as yours and they haven't given me any problems with it this year. My biggest concern is boarding early enough for there to be space in the OH compartment above my seat.

Get the United credit card for group 2. It works even if you use another card to pay for tickets.

Thank you for the quick responses. We will just try to travel with our normal carry ons and I do have the United Card already and that is what I used to pay for the tickets so we should be group 2.

Fine as long as you don't have a grumpy gate agent. Worst case you just have to prove it fits in their mock up by the gate.

Only time I've ever seen them question anyone was last week and it was a couple that you could tell doesn't fly very much. Wife was convinced that since they were in first class that they could carry on a bag that should've definitely been checked. They were nice about it and just let them gate check it.
