Posted on the San Antonio board but figured this board gets more traffic...

I will be in town for work in a few weeks and was wondering where the best place to stay with easy and safe access to breweries and food would be?

Daytime wise I'll over off Hwy 90W and the Anderson Loop.
Being in town for several days, I have evenings free.

IS the downtown/Alamo area a good place to stay? Is it walkable up Broadway to the breweries around there?
If not, is there a better area/place to stay? Hoping for 15-20MIn commute each way... can be longer if needed.

Lots of great luxury and historic hotels right on the Riverwalk. Stay on the beaten path and utilize hotel parking garages (Ford pickups have been a magnet for theft, perhaps improved in the three months we've had a real president).

Pearl is great, tons of food and drink and you can walk the river. Breckenridge Golf right there as well.
Easy come, Easy go

Let me repeat... this is a business trip so high-end and pricy hotels are not in scope.
I've seen several hotels downtown that will work... I'm just wondering (having not been to SA in over 20 years) how downtown is, is it walkable to breweries, and how is the drive out west and back in. Also of the area east of downtown the breweries I saw are in is safe to walk or if it's a place to get an uber back to the hotel from (about a 20 min walk from the Westin etc.).

I do appreciate the recommendations given though and will keep them in mind if I come on vacation.

San Antonio isn't really a "brewery" type city. Especially in downtown.

Stay at the St. Anthony. Walk to the Esquire and Menger.

Plenty of breweries downtown. Most are short uber ride.
Blacks, Back Unturned, Dos Sirenos and Kunstler are all good. Freetail on 1604 is also very good and Boerne has 3-4 breweries also. Good luck.

IMO the drive out to Hwy 90 and 1604 would suck. But you would be going against the worst traffic.
