Booked a week long trip there this summer. Place is on the beach in Indian Shores area. Any recommendations on things to do, places to eat, etc? Kids are 10 and 13. Busch Gardens is already on the list.

I'd like to sneak away for a round of golf but probably won't happen.

Thanks!

St. Pete is such a nice area to walk around, especially in the evening. Pleasant parks and good food. I've never done it with kids though.

The new pier is very nice. The Chihuly Collection is impressive. There's also the Dali museum if that can hold the kids' interest. Datz is always a dependable, family friendly spot. They've got a location in St Pete now.

Sawgrass Lake Park is a very nice conservation area. You'll be able to spot gators in the swamps from the boardwalks and piers.

From a wider standpoint, Siesta Key is my favorite beach in the area. It's gorgeous powder-like sand. St Armands Circle is in that area too if you're feeling touristy. The Columbia Restaurant there is definitely worth checking off the list - don't sleep on the salad!

Sunsets at Pier 60 up in Clearwater are also a good time if you find yourself out there.

Check the Bishop Museum up in Bradenton. They rehab manatees with the intent of getting them back into the wild. Since Snooty died, they don't always have Manatees on display.

And if you go get to peel away a bit, the brewery game in St Pete is excellent. You want stouts? Cycle. Sours? Overflow. IPAs and Lagers? Green Bench. And all blocks from each other.

I spent 3 weeks there in the heat of summer some years ago. It was oppressively hot. And I am from Houston saying that. The sand on the beach was foot burning hot. You had to high step it down to the water line. Night's weren't much better.
All that said, it is beautiful there. Just plan on being hot. Folks there were really great. Lots of yankees, but they were great. The seafood choices at almost all restaurants was fantastic. Driving took some getting used to. They number the east/west streets the same and it gets a bit confusing. Main Street is the zero street and the streets north of main are North 1st, North 2nd, etc. the ones South of main are South 1st, South 2nd, etc. pretty simple once you are familiar, but takes a few to get used to it.

Tampa Bay local, Slyce in Indian Rocks Beach (IRB) has always been a solid choice. I also really like Crabby Bill's in IRB. If you go a little further down the beach, Madeira Beach is a hidden gem. There's a nice boardwalk called John's Pass that you can find shops and restaurants (my all time fave is Mad Beach Brewing, it's also very kid friendly). In my experience, John's Pass is less crowded than Clearwater Beach.

Have a great time! And yes, it's hot AF.

St. Pete Pier on the weekends. I lived there for a year and would do my morning runs the end of the pier and back to my house.
