We're heading to Gatlinburg to celebrate our anniversary! We'll be spending three nights in Gatlinburg, followed by our final night in Knoxville before flying home. Looking for great recommendations in both cities.

Gatlinburg (Wed-Fri):
  • A nice spot for an anniversary dinner
  • Places to enjoy good food and drinks outdoors while taking in the nice weather
  • Wineries in or around the Gatlinburg area

Knoxville (Saturday):
  • Fun rooftop or patio spots with great food and drinks
  • Places near downtown with live music

As always, your recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I appreciate the suggestion - it seems a little off our pathway. Any recommendations in downtown Gatlinburg?

You have to check out Ole Smoky Distillery for legal moonshine and live music.

Ah yes, we liked the one in Nashville. We'll have to check this one out during a nice day.

If you like amusement parks, Dollywood is pretty cool!

For dinner in Gatlinburg I'd recommend The Greenbrier. Great location up in the woods and as I recall, good food. Might even see a bear. There's also (ironically), the Alamo Steakhouse. The Peddler Steakhouse gets a lot of great reviews. Great salad bar but I was not impressed with their steaks.

Definitely recommend the Ole Smoky Distillery. Much different than their Nashville location and some really great live Blue Grass music. Also, the Sugarlands Distillery is a few minutes walk from Ole Smoky. And a little further down the main drag is the Barrelhouse, which was acquired by Ole Smoky a few years ago.

If you plan to spend some time in the National Park, I'd recommend driving up to Newfound Gap. Also, Cades Cove, which is toward Townsend.

In Knoxville, I'd recommend the Market Square area. Really nice collection of shopping and restaurants.

April is a good month to visit. Gatlinburg will be busy, but not as crazy as the summer.

Mountain roller coaster
When Anakeesta broke ground I thought the idea of another chair lift was dumb. Little did I know the chair lift was not their primary goal. I guess it's the kid in me...but I really love the mountain roller coasters in Gatlinburg.
