We are taking a family vacation this summer to British Columbia. We will be up in the mountains most of the time but will have one day to spend in Vancouver before we fly back home.

Any recommendations on how we should spend that day? What part of the city to stay in?

Kids are 8, 11 and 13 years old.

Thanks.

Stanley Park, Granville Island, and Capilona Suspension Bridge will be the first three things to look at as options. If you ski then also many ski resorts. Also the Sea to Sky Gondola if planning to head to Whistler.

As has been mentioned Stanley Park, Granville Island. Also the aquarium located in Stanley Park gets good reviews. Haven't been but that might be something fun for the kids. While you're in the park, the brewery there is pretty nice too - something for the parents. Lots of places to rent bikes and stuff just outside of the park as well.

I'd stay close to the water, although will be a little pricier but the Westin there is nice and Stanley Park is a quick walk down the seawall.

Absolutely correct. Beat me to it. You can follow the pathway into town as well.
Gorgeous views all along the pathway. From several years ago, apres skiing and before heading to Victoria.

If it's not in your plans already you should take the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island. You can see the killer whales along the way and visit Butchart Gardens. Amazing place. To appreciate Vancouver you need more than one day. One of my favorite cities in North America.

Definitely need more than one day. Sea to Sky gondola on the way to Whistler was my kids favorite.

With only one day, I wouldn't go farther than the suspension bridge. Stanley Park and Granville Island are good choices in the city. My kids were around the same age the last time we were there and there was plenty for them to see and do in those two places.

If you really want to see Victoria in a day and don't want to spend more time on the ferry than actually seeing things, take the sea plane.

been a couple of decades since I was last there, but Capilano suspension bridge was the highlight. The aquarium was good as well.

This. Plenty to do up there even if you're not skiing.
