Making our first trip up to Red River this week. I know it's small but are there any favorite places to have a beer or eat?

We've made a lot of trips to Red River over the years and love it. There's a lot of turnover in restaurants there, but a a couple of stalwarts are Shotgun Willies (super casual), Texas Reds for steak, and the Italian place right by the ski lift. There's also a very new bar/restaurant right on the main drag that's good. You can't miss it because it's clearly one of the newest buildings.

Bull O' the Woods and Mother Lode for drinks.

The brewery in town (red river brewing company and distillery) is the most happenest thing in town and was a great addition. Wait times there will also be long.

There's a Mexican place on the back side of town called Sundance. Not my favorite but options are limited.

A green chile smothered breakfast burrito from Shotgun Willie's is one of my favorite breakfasts of all time.

This week is the Red River Songwriters' Festival. It starts Thursday and goes through Saturday. It is a GREAT group of songwriters in very intimate settings but some of the places might be packed (Motherlode, Lost Love, Lift House).

Red River Brewing Company has decent beers. Food not quite as good as it was before Covid, but still good.

Here now and town is pretty deserted understandably with the low snow totals. We lucked out and got 9" over the last 36 hours.

How much is open ski wise?

They just opened 6 more runs yesterday so they are up to 75%
