Any recommendations for a hotel in NYC for a family of 5? Probably want to stay around Times Square, but open to suggestions.

I always recommend Park Central Hotel on 7th Ave. It's not in Times Square but it's an easy walk straight down 7th Ave to get into the theater district and Times Square. And you're only a few blocks south of Central Park as well.

We stayed at the Omni Berkshire Place a couple of Christmases ago. Great location near Rockefeller center, and compared to other options, very affordable when we stayed.

Avoid lodging and dining in Times Square.

We've stayed at the Marriott Renaissance in Midtown. Close enough to Times Square without being in it.

Nice hotel.

I stayed the Hamton Inn Times Square south. No complaints, felt safe as a single solo traveller.

Hyatt Centric Times Square. Ask for a room on higher floors. Super convenient to Times Square, subways, restaurants, etc. Also right beside Connolly's Irish Pub - open late.

We stayed at the Courtyard between Central Park and Times Square. Easy walking distance for both.

I always suggest this for NYC trips with families/groups: Mint House at 70 Pine.

-FiDi is a good location. Extremely well connected via transit and some interesting stuff walkable in the area (Wall St/Bull, Stone Street, The Battery, Hudson River Greenway, The Tenement Museum, Tin Building, LES and East Village, I could go on)
-Mint House is an Aparthotel so you will have a lot more room and a kitchen and likely multiple bathrooms
-Michelin starred restaurant in the lobby that isn't overly fancy (try the patty melt on their bar menu)
-Overstory is an award winning cocktail bar with great views up high in the same building.
-The price to sq ft ratio is pretty much unbeatable in NYC.

Just for example in October you could book a 2 bed 2 bath 1100 sq ft apartment with a pull out couch for under $900/night before tax.

We enjoyed the Renaissance New York Times Square. It's right in the middle of Times Square which I thought would be overwhelming and too much and it wasn't. Great location for first time visitors to the city!

I've had clients who love the Hilton Midtown, great location and great for families and the Hyatt Centric Times Square.

And a personal favorite, although it isn't in Times Square but just a few blocks away is Lotte New York Palace. This would be a luxury option but is absolutely wonderful and close to everything. This hotel was featured in Gossip Girl and has some wonderful views of the city and amazing staff.
