Going on a work trip to Edmonton next month. Fly in on Friday and work starts Sunday. I have all day Saturday to kill. Any ideas on what to do? Kind of wanting to drive into the mountains.

Banff is a 4 hour drive... Lake Louise 3.5ish depending on route. Beautiful area and worth every minute of that drive if you're a mountain fan. I was very jealous that my wife and inlaws got to do that while I sat in a conference room in Edmonton last August.

Schedule your flight into and out of Calgary. It's not a terrible drive for a Texan used to long drives (2 hours?) and it'll enable you to get to Banff/Lake Louise in 1.5 hours rather than 4. Go spend Friday night up there. Stay in Canmore for cheaper stays.
