We are headed to San Diego at the end of the week to get out of the Texas heat. We go there often as it is an easy trip so we know several good places to eat.

But does anyone have a suggestion for best seafood in downtown San Diego? A local restaurant, not an Eddie V's.

Do a quick Uber trip to harbor island and do Costerra or Island prime.

The fish market next to Midway

We had wondered about the Fish Market.

What you should really do is rent a car and drive up the coast to the San Clemente pier and eat at the restaurant on the pier.

Usually we drive up to Del Mar and eat at Jake's. May do that again.

Jake's mai tais are great. If you do that you should make a day of it and go to Del Mar horse races. Only $8 to get in the track and you can bet on some horses. Great people watching as well.


Also if you haven't been, grab a drink at monarch in Del Mar. can't beat the view. Food isn't stellar but it's good for a happy hour drink

Reminds me of a purely grilled / fried seafood Pappadeaux's with a better view and more tourists.

Seafood is honestly something I haven't really found that wowed me out there. Maybe gulf seafood is just different like TexMex to SoCal mexican food?
