Thanks for the info!
If we went, it would be for a week. They have a deep Bahama Bank reef dive that interests me, 140' +, that I am qualified to do.
It looks like the kind of island that is like Grand Turk (which we loved) and Caye Caulker in Belize.
Our next trip will have to be to a "money" dive spot for the kid. But for just me and Mrs. TCR, I am really getting into finding small, off the beaten path places.
I don't know anything specifically about Bimini, but this place on Andros Island in the Bahamas has had my attention for a few years, but I have not made the time and effort to actually go there yet.
Small Hope Bay Lodge | All-Inclusive Comfort on Andros Island, BahamasIf you like off the beaten path places to go diving, you really ought to try Little Cayman. There is pretty much nothing to do there except eat, sleep, dive, and birdwatch, but in my opinion (and quite a few others) it is the best diving in the Caribbean. The only way to get there is to fly a twin otter out of Grand Cayman. The island is about 7 miles long and a mile wide and has about 200 full time residents. There are only two resorts on the island, Little Cayman Beach Resort, and Southern Cross Club, and a few other condos available for rent. Both resorts are very small relative to what most people think when they hear "resort". Southern Cross Club does fishing charters also, and LCBR has a small spa for massages, etc.
The diving is spectacular though, particularly on the north side of the island where the wall is a few hundred yards offshore, and in places the top of the wall is around 20' underwater and drops off vertically to well beyond recreational limits (600-1000' depending on who you talk to).
