My wife and I are going to be in Boston the weekend of Aug 22 and want to go to a Red Sox game and experience Fenway for the first time. What is the best site and timing to buy tickets? Also any suggestions on where to sit - or not sit? I don't mind spending a bit …but hate to get ripped off. Any advice is much appreciated.

I bought my ticket off a guy selling tickets out of the bar at the Longhorn Steakhouse near Fenway Park.

But that was back in the era of paper tickets.

I went to 2nd to last game last year while in Boston. I just waited and bought some an hour before the game on stubhub.. Ended up getting a great deal on some right behind on deck - right next to me was turners parents and wife

Look into doing a Fenway tour, it's very well done.

I bought mine off stub hub fairly cheaply close to the visitors dugout.

I had the concierge at our hotel get ours. They were season ticket holders seats not too far behind Red Socks dugout.

Steven King sat a few rows in front of us.

This was 2001. So a lot has changed since then. I'm sure it is cheaper to buy from StubHub etc.

We walked up to the stadium ticket booth and bought ours. $55 per seat I think - it was around Memorial Day weekend this year

I would do some research to figure out where the structural posts are to make sure you're either infront of them or in an area that it won't obstruct your view any.....there is a site that has photos from nearly every seat at Fenway that you should be able to find with a
Google search

Enjoy, Fenway is amazing!

Even though I've only been to one game there, Fenway is the best. Went with a group of friends last summer and bought standing room only tickets on top of the Monster. By the second inning, some season ticket holder told us to come sit on the front row of the Monster with him because the rest of his group wasn't there that night. Not saying this always happens, but we lucked into a pretty cool experience of sitting in really expensive seats. The view from up there is incredible to watch a game, and something that no other ballpark can offer.

Regardless of where you choose to sit, you will no doubt have a blast. After typing this, now I wish I was going back.

We used Seat Geek last month and were able to find reasonably priced tickets pretty easily. However, just know that the grandstand seats are oooooold, so our tickets were past first base, but they faced directly forward, staring at the Green Monster. You had to angle yourself the entire game to see what was happening at home plate.

That said, we had a great time. There's lots of history to see, so if you're into that sort of thing, allow time to walk around the park. There's display booths at the front that goes through the years and even if you don't have tickets, you can still get pretty close to the Green Monster. They won't let you ON it though.

If you Uber and are pretty close but at a dead stop in traffic, it is 100% faster to get out of the car and walk the few final blocks than trying to be dropped off in front of Fenway.

Ballpark app, has an option to look at a virtual view of the field from the exact seat you are buying. Fenway seats are tight and some are fully obstructed by stadium features. If you are a large person it will be uncomfortable in some of the seats, so keep in mind. I think they have bleachers in the outfield but it's been a few years since I've been.

We watched the Rangers at Fenway a few years ago and had rooftop seats. They have more room and it's a great view up there.

I will second the Fenway Tour if you get the chance.

We've bought tickets on gametime app and also just walked up to the ticket booth, all right before the game and got great seats each time for a decent price. My favorite ones were behind home plate about 20 rows up, so much fun!
